How do I recover my abandoned vehicle?
Follow the instructions on the notice you receive from the city.

What to Expect and When:
If you receive an Abandoned Vehicle Report from the Police Department's Neighborhood Services Division (215) 685-9500, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 4 pm.

  • You have five (5) days from the date on the notice to contact and find out the reason(s) the vehicle is to be towed.
  • You have ten (10) days to correct any violations.
You Should Know:
The days are counted from the date on the notice, not the date the United States Post Office (USPS) delivered the letter. 
  • In order to reclaim the vehicle without proof of insurance coverage, and the auto registration must be current.
  • If the vehicle is towed abandoned, the owner is liable for any:
    • Violations
    • Towing fees
    • Storage fees
The vehicle may be sold for scrap or destroyed if not reclaimed by the owner.
