Do I have to pay a fee for the City's commercial trash & recycling collection services?
A service fee is imposed annually on any commercial establishment and multi-unit dwelling eligible for city collection of rubbish and recycling materials that are not paying for services from a licensed private hauler. You Should Know:
The City of Philadelphia currently collects solid waste from eligible commercial establishments and multi-unit dwellings and those properties may elect to continue receiving the City’s services for the annual fee or obtain collection services from a private hauler.
Follow these steps to pay online:
- Go to tax-services.phila.gov.
- Find the "Payments" panel on the Tax Center's homepage and select "Make a payment."
- Under "Payment options," pick "Yes" to pay a bill you just received or "No" and use the dropdown menu to select "Commercial Trash Fees". Follow the on-screen instructions to submit your payment.
If you split your bill into two installments and paid the first $250 installment in December 2025, you must pay the second $250 installment by June 30. Your account will incur extra charges if you fail to pay on time and may be referred to collections if you ignore your bill.

Eligibility for the City’s Commercial/Multi-Unit Collection Services will remain as follows:

Any commercial/multi-unit premises eligible under Section Six of Regulations Governing Municipal Collection of Refuse shall be eligible for this service fee.

Premises must have equal to or less than 6 units, and not exceed the set-out limits.

The weekly set-out limit for non-recyclable rubbish can’t exceed six 32-gallon receptacles or twelve plastic bags, no larger than 30 inches x 37 inches, or an equivalent combination of the two. There is no set-out limit on the number of recyclables.
