How do I file a police report?
In person. To file a police report about crimes and other incidents that occur within the City of Philadelphia, call
911 to have an officer dispatched to your location or go to the local Police District where the event occurred. This applies to emergency and non-emergency reports.

You Should Know:
Police Reports must be filed in person. Either you go in person to a police district, or you call 911 and a police officer comes to you.

Examples of incidents that should be reported to the police:
  • Accidents
  • Robbery
  • Assault
  • Burglary
  • Theft
  • Residential Noise
  • Obstructing the street  (Example: Placing cones or chairs in the street to save a parking spot)
  • Illegal Parking (Example: Double Parking, Blocking Traffic, Parking too close to a fire hydrant)
  • Missing Persons (If the missing person incident just occurred)
