How do I report a property infested with mice and/or roaches?
Complete a Maintenance Complaint Service Request of type Property Maintenance Interior.

What to Expect and When:
  • An inspection will occur within 20 business days
  • Violations will be issued if appropriate
  • The owner has 35 calendar days to correct the problem(s) before re-inspection

Reporting Procedures:
Residential property owners and tenants renting a single-family home are responsible for infestations in their properties according to PA Building Code. They must hire their own exterminator.
Only Tenants in an Apartment can report infestations of mice and roaches.

You Should Know:
The Department of Licenses and Inspections (L+I) will inspect for infestation issues of mice and roaches only in a tenant-occupied or neighboring property.
Construction that requires Rat Abatement should refer to this document: Rat Abatement - This joint L&I and Public Health regulation establishes minimum criteria for the rat abatement plan required for certain construction activity and identifies a threshold for building rehabilitation requiring this plan.
