  • Any Philadelphia resident can receive diagnostic services and treatment for a sexually transmitted disease.
  • All services, including testing and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), are free and confidential.
  • STDs are caused by bacteria or viruses that are transmitted from person to person through oral, anal, or vaginal sex.
  • Because of the high risk of re-infection, STDs are not considered to be fully treated until all exposed sex partners are treated.
  • The STD Control Program works to control the spread of STDs in Philadelphia, including Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis.
  • Through a partnership with the AIDS Activities Coordinating Office, they also offer partner services to people infected with HIV.
Services include:
  • Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of STDs.
  • Controlling the spread of STDs by offering confidential services, including referral, testing, and treatment to the sex partners of infected people.
  • Education, urine-based screening, and treatment for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia in all Philadelphia public high schools.
  • Advice and consultation to doctors, nurses, and other community partners about the diagnosis and treatment of STDs.
  • Free male and female condoms.
